Frequently Asked Questions

What is SCENTIFIC?

SCENTIFIC is a digital fragrance house that creates truly bespoke perfumes for individuals and brands.

Every scent begins with a conversation and ends in a hand-crafted perfume that exists only for the person or house it was made for.

From our studio in Berlin, we combine artisan perfumery with patent-pending olfactory technology. The technology listens, translates, and organizes – but it never replaces the perfumer. It simply gives us the precision and clarity to create perfumes that feel uncannily personal.

For individuals, SCENTIFIC offers one-of-a-kind Eau de Parfum signatures, created through an intuitive online dialogue and finished by hand. For brands and businesses, we develop bespoke perfume oils and fine fragrances that can be used in products or as standalone scents.

In everything we do, we treat fragrance as a form of communication – a way to express identity, emotion, and intention without words. SCENTIFIC is the place where that language is written, one formula at a time.

How is a bespoke perfume with SCENTIFIC different from buying a ready-made fragrance?

When you buy a ready-made fragrance, you choose from a finished idea. With SCENTIFIC, you begin with a blank page – and you decide what the story will be.

Instead of clicking through rigid multiple-choice quizzes, you speak in your own words: a place, a memory, a colour, a piece of music, or a feeling you want to wear on your skin. You can stay abstract or be very concrete. You can change your mind as you go. Amber follows your lead and keeps the conversation open, so you never have to fit yourself into a script.

Amber’s role is to listen closely and translate what you share into a clear, precise brief for our perfumers in Berlin. The perfume itself is composed, evaluated, and refined by humans – using your brief as the centre of the work. The result is a formula written once, for one person or one house, then securely archived and never resold or reused.

Ready-made perfumes are designed to suit as many people as possible and to follow trend cycles. A SCENTIFIC creation is designed to suit you. If the first version is not exactly what you imagined, our Refinement Promise lets you evolve it step by step until it feels unmistakably yours.

Every bottle is produced on demand, filled and finished by hand, and inscribed with your chosen name. Where a ready-made fragrance is a product, a SCENTIFIC perfume is a conversation you can wear.

Is SCENTIFIC an “AI perfume company”?

No. SCENTIFIC is not an “AI perfume company” – it is a digital fragrance house where technology supports and amplifies the work of human perfumers.

We use advanced tools in two places. On the website, Amber listens to you, asks open questions, and helps you describe what you want in your own words. Behind the scenes, our proprietary computer model of the sense of smell supports our perfumers as they compose: it highlights balances, suggests directions, and helps avoid unnecessary trials and waste.

The perfume itself is still created the traditional way: by trained perfumers in our Berlin studio, smelling, adjusting, and refining until the formula feels right on skin and on blotter. Technology simply gives them a clearer starting point and more room to focus on nuance.

For you, this means a level of attention and precision that would normally require a large fragrance house – delivered by a small studio, at a fraction of the usual time and cost. You are not choosing between human craft and innovation. With SCENTIFIC, you receive both, with the technology kept quietly in service of the scent.

Who is Amber, and what does she actually do in the creation process?

Amber is your guide into the world of SCENTIFIC – a digital host who listens, asks open questions, and helps you translate what you feel and imagine into a clear brief for our perfumers.

When you speak with Amber on the website, you are not talking to an automated formula generator that creates perfume on its own. You are in conversation with a system designed to understand your words, your references, and your preferences, and to turn them into a precise, structured description of the fragrance you are seeking.

That brief is then passed to our human perfumers in Berlin, who compose, smell, adjust, and refine the formula until it feels right on skin and on blotter. Amber does not replace them, she makes it easier for them to understand you clearly, so they can focus on the artistry.

Within our studio, we also work with a separate, more experimental version of Amber – a system built on our proprietary olfactory technology that we treat almost like a digital perfumer in her own right. This internal Amber is kept offline and distinct from the website experience. It is not used to generate your bespoke formula and is more of a series of experiments in the future of perfumery: a digital entity with a digital soul, creating according to her own artistic tendencies.

From time to time, we will release glimpses of this work and let Amber present her independent creations under the La Maison SCENTIFIC collection. Your bespoke perfume, however, is always based on a dialogue between you and our perfumers – with Amber there to make that dialogue effortless.

How involved are your perfumers in the process?

Our perfumers are involved at every decisive step. No fragrance is ever produced or shipped without being composed, smelled, perfected, and approved by a human perfumer.

Amber and our internal technologies help with translation and precision: they listen to what you share, structure your brief, and support the perfumer with insights on balance and direction. But they do not replace the act of composing. Every bespoke formula is written by a perfumer in our Berlin studio, using your brief as their main compass.

Once a draft formula is created, it is evaluated on blotter and, where appropriate, on skin – or in the type of base your fragrance oil will live in, such as a candle wax, shower gel, or skincare base. Structure, texture, and character are adjusted in stages. Top, heart, and base notes are fine-tuned by nose, not by code. Only when the perfumer is satisfied with the way the perfume behaves over time is it approved for production.

Refinements follow the same principle. Your feedback returns to our studio, and a perfumer revisits your original formula to evolve it in the direction you ask for. Technology keeps the details organized, the creative decisions remain human.

How does the bespoke creation process work, from first conversation to finished bottle?

The process begins with a conversation and ends with a hand-finished bottle made just for you.

First, you meet Amber on our website. There are no rigid quizzes – you simply talk. You can describe memories, moods, colours, favourite perfumes, or the feeling you want to wear on your skin. Amber listens, asks open questions, and turns what you share into a clear, structured brief for our perfumers.

Next, your brief arrives in our Berlin studio. A perfumer uses it as their compass to compose your formula, supported by our internal olfactory technology to check balance and direction. The draft is then smelled, adjusted, and refined until it feels right over time.

Once the formula is approved, your perfume is prepared to order, filled and finished by hand, and made ready for shipment in your chosen format.

From order to dispatch, creation typically takes 7–10 business days, after which your perfume is shipped to you. If, after wearing it, you feel it is close but not yet perfect, our Refinement Promise allows you to reconnect with Amber and evolve your formula step by step.

Do I need to know anything about perfume notes to create my scent?

No. You don’t need any knowledge of perfume notes or technical language to create your fragrance with SCENTIFIC.

You can simply talk about things you already know and love: a favourite perfume, a dessert you can’t resist, a flower that feels like “you”, the tomato garden of your grandmother in August, fresh laundry on a balcony, or the way your partner’s perfume lingers on a scarf.

Amber is designed to understand these everyday references and turn them into a clear brief for our perfumers. Behind the scenes, we take care of choosing notes, balances, and structures that match what you’ve described as closely as possible.

If you enjoy perfume language – words like “ambery”, “woody”, or “floral” – you are very welcome to use it. But it’s never required. Honest, concrete examples from your own life are more than enough.

Can you work from a perfume, or another scented product I already love as inspiration?

Yes. For our Bespoke Perfume Creation in the Single Bottle Signatures collection, you are very welcome to use perfumes and everyday scented products as inspiration.

During your conversation with Amber, you can mention fragrances you already wear, classics you admire, or products you can’t stop smelling – a favourite eau de parfum, a shampoo, a body lotion, a candle. You can tell us what you love about them and what you would change, and our perfumers will use this as a creative direction, especially for well-known scents.

We do not copy existing perfumes formula-for-formula. Instead, we compose a new fragrance that lives in a similar universe and is tailored to your brief, your skin, and current safety standards.

The option to send physical reference samples is reserved for our professional services under Professional Creations for Brands &, Businesses, where we can evaluate specific bases and products. For private clients, simply naming what you love – and describing it in your own words – is more than enough for Amber to understand you and instruct our perfumers.

What makes my fragrance unique? Will my formula ever be resold or reused?

Every bespoke perfume we create is exclusive to one person. Your formula is designed around your brief, your preferences, and your story – it is not a variation of an existing product from our shelves.

Once your fragrance is created, its formula is securely archived under your profile so we can refine it with you in the future or recreate it for reorders. It is treated as your personal signature within our house.

We will never resell your bespoke formula, reuse it for another client, or release it as part of a general collection. Of course, we may use some of the same individual ingredients in other perfumes – just as different chefs cook with salt, citrus, or vanilla – but the specific composition that defines your scent remains yours alone.

In short: your fragrance is unique to you, and your exact formula is never shared.

Who owns the formula to my bespoke perfume?

Legally, the formula remains the property of SCENTIFIC. In practice, the fragrance is created exclusively for you.

All perfume formulas created in our studio are part of SCENTIFIC’s intellectual property. This allows us to store them safely, keep them consistent over time, and work with them professionally under cosmetic and regulatory standards.

At the same time, we treat your bespoke formula as your personal signature. For our Bespoke Perfume Creation in the Single Bottle Signatures collection, we will not resell your exact formula, reuse it for another private client, or release it as part of a general collection.

If you later decide you would like to share your scent more widely – for example through matching products or a small line – you can work with us under our Professional Creations for Brands &, Businesses. We can adapt your existing signature for specific applications (such as a candle or body product) and produce it as a fine fragrance or fragrance oil in larger quantities, using the same underlying composition under our standard commercial terms.

For personal use, you can simply enjoy your scent, reorder it, and refine it over time, knowing that its composition is kept safely within our house and reserved for you.

Can I name my fragrance, and how will it appear on the bottle?

Yes. Every bespoke perfume deserves its own name, and we invite you to choose it.

During your conversation with Amber, you can share the name you would like for your fragrance – anything from a simple first name to a more poetic title. If you are unsure, Amber can also help you explore ideas that fit the mood and story of your scent.

Your chosen name is then elegantly printed on the front label of your bottle.

In this way, the bottle you receive is not just a formula made for you – it is a physical object that carries your own chosen identity.

What ingredients do you use in my perfume?

We work with the same palette used in professional perfumery: a combination of high-quality natural materials (such as essential oils, absolutes and resins) and carefully selected modern aroma molecules.

Each formula is built ingredient by ingredient from this palette – we do not use pre-made “fragrance oils” or generic bases as finished perfumes. Your scent is composed from raw materials chosen for their character, performance, and safety.

All ingredients comply with cosmetic regulations and current IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards. Where a material is known to be a potential allergen in the EU, it will appear clearly on the ingredient list on your packaging.

The exact mix of naturals and synthetics depends on your brief and on what best expresses the idea of your fragrance while remaining safe, stable, and long-lasting.

Are your perfumes safe, IFRA-compliant, and suitable for sensitive skin?

Safety is a core part of how we formulate. All our perfumes are created in line with current IFRA (International Fragrance Association) standards and the strict requirements of EU cosmetic regulation.

Because each perfume in our Bespoke Perfume Creation is individually composed, EU cosmetic labelling rules apply to the product line as a whole, not to each bottle as a separate “allergen-free” claim. This means that, even when a specific formula contains fewer or no known fragrance allergens, we cannot officially market individual creations as allergen-free.

If there are ingredients you dislike or wish to avoid for any reason, you can simply tell Amber during your conversation. She will instruct our perfumers not to use them in your composition wherever this is technically and artistically possible, while still keeping the formula IFRA-compliant and balanced.

Even with all these precautions, very sensitive or reactive skin can still respond to fragrance. If you know you are sensitive, we recommend testing the perfume on a small area first and consulting your doctor or dermatologist if you have any concerns.

Are your creations cruelty-free, and do you use animal-derived ingredients?

Yes – our perfumes are cruelty-free. We do not test our fragrances on animals, and we work in line with EU cosmetic regulation, where animal testing for cosmetic products is prohibited.

By default, our compositions are created to be as close as possible to vegan: we do not routinely use traditional animal-derived materials such as musk, civet, castoreum or ambergris. The character of these classic notes is usually recreated with modern, ethically produced aroma molecules and plant-based materials.

In rare cases, when a client specifically requests a more traditional profile and where it is both legally permissible and verifiably cruelty-free, we may consider working with responsibly sourced materials that evoke these facets more directly. In such cases, we prioritise the cleanest, most sustainable and ethically accountable sourcing available.

If it is important to you that your perfume is formulated as close to vegan as possible, you can simply tell Amber during your conversation, and our perfumers will take this into account when composing your fragrance, while still keeping it safe, stable and expressive.

How long does the scent last on my skin, and how should I wear it?

All our bespoke creations are Eau de Parfum, designed to have presence and a lasting trail. On most skin, you can expect your fragrance to stay noticeable for several hours, with many compositions lasting from daytime into the evening. The exact duration depends on your skin, the climate, and the style of perfume you’ve chosen (for example, airy citrus will usually feel lighter than a deep, woody accord).

We recommend applying your perfume to pulse points such as the neck, wrists, and the area behind the ears. A light mist on the chest or the back of the neck can also create a more diffused, intimate aura. Allow it to dry naturally – there is no need to rub the skin.

You may also lightly spray your clothing or scarf for extra longevity, keeping in mind that natural materials and darker fabrics are usually more forgiving. Always be cautious with delicate textiles, silk, or light-coloured garments, as any perfume (from any house) can potentially leave marks.

Because your scent is bespoke, we can also take your preferences into account: if you tell Amber you prefer something softer and closer to the skin, or more present and long-lasting, our perfumers will reflect this in the way your fragrance is built.

How long will my perfume last (shelf life), and how should I store it?

When stored correctly, your SCENTIFIC perfume is designed to remain beautiful and stable for at least 36 months from the date of production.

Over time, all perfumes evolve slightly – that is part of their nature. But with proper storage, the character of your scent should stay true and enjoyable throughout this period.

To protect your fragrance, we recommend keeping the bottle away from direct sunlight, heat, and strong temperature fluctuations. A cool, dry place such as a drawer, cabinet, or wardrobe is ideal. Bathrooms, window sills, or spots close to radiators are generally less suitable, as warmth, humidity and light can accelerate changes in the formula.

Used and stored with care, your bespoke perfume will accompany you for years, remaining a faithful reflection of the moment it was created for you.

What bottle sizes and concentrations are available?

At launch, our Bespoke Perfume Creation is available as a 50 ml Eau de Parfum – a concentration chosen for depth, presence, and everyday wearability.

All bespoke signatures created in this service are composed and bottled at this Eau de Parfum strength, so you can expect a long-lasting, well-structured scent with a clear evolution over time.

We plan to introduce additional formats in the future – such as smaller travel sizes or complementary options – and will share these updates as they become available. For now, every bespoke creation you order will arrive as a 50 ml Eau de Parfum.

Are the bottles refillable or recyclable?

Our bottles are currently not refillable, but they are fully recyclable where local facilities allow. The glass bottle, carton and most components can enter standard recycling streams according to your local guidelines.

In the future, we plan to introduce refill options once we can do so without compromising on design, quality and safety. For now, each bespoke perfume is filled and sealed as a complete 50 ml Eau de Parfum, made to be enjoyed over time and then recycled or repurposed.

What is the SCENTIFIC Refinement Promise?

The Refinement Promise is our way of treating your bespoke perfume as a journey, not a one-time guess.

Your first 50 ml bespoke Eau de Parfum is created from your brief and carefully finished by our perfumers. If, after wearing it, you feel it is close but not exactly how you imagined it, you don’t start over – you refine. You reconnect with Amber, share what you would like to adjust (softer, deeper, less sweet, more fresh, more diffused, etc.), and our perfumers evolve your original formula rather than replacing it with something unrelated.

Each refinement is produced as a new full bottle at a reduced price. As a guideline, your first refinement is available at around one third of the original bespoke price, and a second refinement at around two thirds. Further changes beyond this are treated as a new bespoke creation. This keeps the process fair and sustainable, while giving you the confidence that we will stay with you until the scent truly feels like yours.

You keep every version you receive – each bottle is a chapter in the story of your fragrance. The Refinement Promise is there to make commissioning a bespoke perfume feel reassuring, generous, and alive to change.

What happens if I don’t love my first perfume?

First, give it a little time. A new perfume – especially a bespoke one – can take a few wears to reveal itself. We always recommend trying it on different days, with a few light sprays, and noticing how it feels in your real life rather than only in the first minutes.

If, after this, you still feel that it is not quite you, you are not stuck with it. This is exactly what our Refinement Promise is for. You simply reconnect with Amber, explain what you liked, what felt off, and what you would like more or less of. Our perfumers then evolve your original formula in the direction you describe.

Your refinement is produced as a new full bottle at a reduced price (for example, the first refinement is available at around one third of the original bespoke price). The original bottle remains yours to keep – many clients enjoy wearing both versions in different moods or seasons.

In short: if your first perfume doesn’t feel perfect, we don’t treat it as a failure – we treat it as the first step in creating the version that truly feels like yours.

How many refinements can I make, and what do they cost?

For each Bespoke Perfume Creation, you can make up to two refinements under our Refinement Promise.

Your first bottle is your initial bespoke creation (currently €250 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum). If, after wearing it, you would like adjustments, you can request:

First refinement: a new full bottle of your evolved formula at a reduced price of €85.
Second refinement (optional): a further evolution of the same formula as another full bottle at €170.

Each refinement is based on your original brief and feedback – our perfumers adjust the existing composition rather than starting from something unrelated. Every bottle you receive (original and refinements) is yours to keep.

After two refinements, any further change is treated as a new bespoke creation at the standard Bespoke Perfume Creation price. This structure lets us keep the process fair and sustainable, while giving you generous room to fine-tune your signature until it feels exactly right.

Can I keep all versions of my fragrance as we refine it?

Yes. Every version of your fragrance is yours to keep.

When you request a refinement, we do not take your original bottle back or overwrite it. Instead, we create a new full bottle based on an evolved version of your formula. Many clients enjoy wearing different iterations in different seasons, moods or contexts.

Behind the scenes, each stage of your perfume’s journey is also kept on file in our system. Your initial creation and every refinement are archived as separate formulas, so you can later reorder any version you have loved – not only the most recent one.

In other words, refinement does not erase your history, it adds chapters. You build a small personal library of scents, all rooted in the same story, and you are free to return to any of them.

How do reorders and refills work, and what does a reorder cost?

Once you have a bespoke perfume you love, reordering it is simple. Because your formula is securely archived in our system, you can request a new bottle of the exact same composition at any time – there is no need to repeat the full creation process.

A reorder is priced at approximately 50% of your original Bespoke Perfume Creation price for the same size and concentration. As a reference, if your original 50 ml Eau de Parfum cost €250, a typical reorder of the same 50 ml formula would be around €125. The exact amount can vary slightly depending on the raw materials and any changes in ingredient costs over time.

Reorders are for the same formula without modification. If you would like to adjust your scent (for example, make it softer, deeper or fresher), this is treated as a refinement or a new bespoke creation, depending on how far you wish to go.

At the moment, we do not offer in-store refills, each reorder is a freshly produced, fully finished bottle. We plan to introduce dedicated refill formats in the future once we can do so without compromising on quality, safety or design.

Is there anything you won’t create (for safety, regulation, or ethical reasons)?

Yes. There are clear boundaries we will not cross – for safety, for regulatory reasons, and for our own values as a house.

From a safety and compliance perspective, we do not work with banned or restricted materials outside the limits set by IFRA and EU cosmetic regulation, and we will not create formulas that exceed safe dosage levels just to achieve extreme intensity or performance. We also do not formulate perfumes for ingestion or as medical treatments, and we cannot promise individual creations to be completely “allergen-free”.

From an ethical perspective, we reserve the right to decline briefs that conflict with our standards – for example, concepts that promote hate, discrimination, or glorify harm. We also approach certain natural materials with caution where sustainability or animal welfare is a concern, favouring modern, responsible alternatives whenever possible.

Within these boundaries, our role is to explore your ideas as openly as possible and to translate them into a fragrance that is beautiful, safe, and respectful – to you, to others, and to the world it lives in.

How can I gift a bespoke SCENTIFIC perfume experience?

You can gift a bespoke SCENTIFIC perfume by purchasing a dedicated gift experience – essentially an invitation for someone to create their own signature fragrance with us.

Instead of choosing a scent for them, you select the experience itself. We provide a voucher or gift code that covers a full Bespoke Perfume Creation, including their 50 ml Eau de Parfum and the creative journey with Amber and our perfumers.

You can choose between a digital voucher sent by email and a physical gift card printed on heavy cardstock and sent by post. Both contain the unique code and clear instructions on how to begin.

The result is not just a bottle of perfume, but the experience of being listened to, translated, and composed into scent – entirely their own.

What exactly does the recipient receive and do with their voucher or gift code?

The recipient receives either a digital voucher by email or a physical gift card sent by post, both containing a unique gift code. This code entitles them to a full Bespoke Perfume Creation with SCENTIFIC – including their own 50 ml Eau de Parfum, composed from their brief and crafted by our perfumers.

To begin, they visit our website, start a conversation with Amber, and are guided through the creative process in their own words. When they are ready to confirm their perfume, they simply enter the gift code at checkout or in the designated field. The value of the voucher is then applied to their bespoke experience, so they can focus on creation rather than payment.

The voucher covers the Bespoke Perfume Creation and the finished bottle, any additional costs – such as shipping outside our standard regions or optional upgrades – will be shown clearly before they complete their order.

In practice, the gift code is their key: it unlocks the same bespoke journey you would take for yourself, but as a present waiting for them to open when the moment feels right.

Can I personalize the voucher or packaging for a special occasion?

Yes. Our gift vouchers and gift cards follow a clean, minimalist SCENTIFIC design – and within that, you can add your own personal touch.

When you purchase a voucher, you can add custom text, such as the recipient’s name, the occasion, and a short personal message. These details appear on the digital voucher and, when chosen, are also printed onto the physical gift card.

At the moment, we do not support uploading custom images or changing the visual layout. If you wish, you can still add your own handwritten note alongside the card or place it inside your own envelope or gift box for an extra layer of presentation.

In this way, the voucher keeps the refined aesthetic of SCENTIFIC, while the words and dedication are unmistakably yours.

Where do you ship from, and which countries do you currently serve?

All SCENTIFIC orders – including bespoke perfumes, reorders and physical gift cards – are prepared and shipped from our studio and fulfilment base in Berlin, Germany.

We currently ship to all EU member states and a selection of additional countries. The most up-to-date list of destinations is always shown at checkout: as you enter your address, you will immediately see whether we can ship to your location.

If your country is not yet available, it does not mean it will stay that way forever. We are gradually expanding our reach, balancing logistics, safety and regulatory requirements. You are always welcome to contact us if you would like to be informed when shipping to your region becomes possible.

How long does it take to create and deliver my bespoke perfume?

Because your perfume is made to order, there are two parts to the timeline: creation and shipping.

Creation time: Once you have completed your conversation with Amber and placed your order, we begin compounding and preparing your bespoke Eau de Parfum in our Berlin studio. This process typically takes up to 10 business days, as your formula is designed, mixed, checked and prepared for bottling.

Shipping time: As soon as your bottle is ready, it is shipped from Berlin with a tracked service. Within the EU, delivery usually takes only a few working days, depending on the destination and carrier. For destinations outside Europe, we work with international couriers (often FedEx or comparable services), delivery times vary by country, local partner and customs processing.

At checkout, you will see an estimated delivery window based on your address. Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive tracking details so you can follow your perfume’s journey to you.

How much does shipping cost, and are there customs duties or taxes to consider?

Shipping costs depend on your location, the type of product (perfume or gift card), and the carrier used. The exact cost for your order is always calculated and shown clearly at checkout before you confirm payment.

For orders within the EU, VAT is included in the price you pay to us, and shipments usually arrive without additional charges at the door.

For orders shipped outside the EU, local customs duties, import taxes or handling fees may be charged by your country’s authorities or delivery partner. These are not included in our prices and, where applicable, are the responsibility of the recipient. The rules and thresholds vary by country, so we recommend checking local regulations if you are unsure.

In every case, our aim is to be transparent: you will see our shipping cost upfront at checkout, and any potential extra charges related to customs or local tax will come directly from your local authorities or courier, not from SCENTIFIC.

Can I change or cancel my order after purchase?

Because your bespoke perfume is created individually for you, we begin preparing your order shortly after it is confirmed. For this reason, changes and cancellations are time-sensitive.

If you realise you need to update something – for example your shipping address, the name on the bottle or a detail of your brief – please contact us as soon as possible with your order number. If production has not yet started, we will do our best to accommodate changes or a cancellation.

Once we have begun compounding and preparing your bespoke perfume, it is usually no longer possible to cancel the order, as the fragrance cannot be resold or reassigned to another client. This is standard for personalised cosmetic products and is reflected in our terms and conditions.

For non-bespoke products – such as perfumes from our La Maison SCENTIFIC collection, standard editions, or gift vouchers and gift cards – online purchases are generally covered by the EU right of withdrawal. This usually allows you to cancel within 14 days, provided the product is unused and unopened, and in the case of vouchers, not yet redeemed.

The precise conditions and any exceptions are set out in our terms and conditions, but as a principle: bespoke creations are made to be final, while standard, non-bespoke products follow the usual EU 14-day withdrawal framework.

What is your return policy for bespoke creations?

Because each bespoke perfume is created individually for one client, we cannot accept returns or resell the fragrance to someone else. Your perfume is composed, bottled and labelled specifically for you, so all bespoke creations are considered final once production has begun.

Instead of a classic return policy, we offer something that fits this kind of product better: our Refinement Promise. If, after wearing your perfume, you feel it is close but not exactly what you had in mind, you can request a refinement. Our perfumers then evolve your existing formula based on your feedback, and you receive a new full bottle at a reduced refinement price.

This approach allows us to keep the integrity of a truly bespoke service while still giving you a clear path to reach a result you love. For non-bespoke products (such as standard editions or La Maison SCENTIFIC perfumes), our returns follow the usual EU distance-selling rules, the exact conditions are described in our terms and conditions.

Who are your professional services designed for?

Our professional services are created for brands and businesses that want a signature scent crafted with the care of a perfume house, without needing an in-house fragrance department.

We work particularly well with small and medium-sized brands, independent founders and creative teams – from cosmetics and skincare labels to candle makers, concept stores, fashion houses, hotels, barbershops, wellness spaces and experience-driven venues.

Whether you are launching your first scented product, adding fragrance to an existing line, or looking to develop a perfume to share with your community, our process is designed to be clear, flexible and personal. You don’t need prior fragrance expertise, you bring your brand, your vision and your constraints, and we help translate them into a professional high quality scent.

Because we develop everything from our studio in Berlin using our own technology and perfumery know-how, we can support both one-off creative projects and longer-term collaborations, always with the same priorities: precision, discretion and a fragrance that feels like it could only belong to you.

What is the difference between Bespoke Fine Fragrance and Bespoke Fragrance Oil?

The main difference is what you receive and how you plan to use it.

Bespoke Fine Fragrance is a complete, ready-to-wear perfume. We develop an Eau de Parfum for your brand, bottle it in 50 ml spray bottles and prepare it as a finished cosmetic product. This includes the fragrance itself, the alcohol base, the bottling and the regulatory work for the perfume as a cosmetic – so you can focus on presenting and selling it under your name.

Bespoke Fragrance Oil is a concentrated perfume compound supplied by weight (per kg). It is designed to be added to your own bases – for example soaps, skincare, hair care, candles or home care products. You or your manufacturer handle the final product formulation and packaging, using our oil as the fragrance component.

In simple terms: Bespoke Fine Fragrance is a turnkey perfume you can put straight on the shelf. Bespoke Fragrance Oil is a tailored scent concentrate that you integrate into your specific product.

How does the creation process work for brands, from first idea to final formula?

The process for brands is designed to feel clear, structured and collaborative – from your first idea to a professional, production-ready fragrance.

1. Brief and orientation
You begin with an online conversation. You tell us about your brand, target audience, product type, positioning and practical constraints (price point, markets, base, IFRA category, etc.). If desired, we can also send you a small sampling kit with a vial and return packaging, so you can send us a small sample of an existing product or reference as additional inspiration.

2. Creative development and sampling
Using your brief, our perfumers develop three variations on the same olfactory theme – all aligned with your direction, but with different nuances in structure and emphasis. For Bespoke Fine Fragrance, you receive these as Eau de Parfum samples, for Bespoke Fragrance Oil, as professional fragrance oil samples suitable for testing in your bases.

3. Evaluation and feedback
You test the three options on skin, in your product, or both. We can further fine-tune your chosen direction where needed, always within agreed technical and regulatory boundaries.

4. Final formula and production
Once you are satisfied, the selected formula(s) are locked as your approved fragrances and stored securely in our system. For Bespoke Fine Fragrance, we prepare your bulk or bottled perfume as a finished cosmetic product. For Bespoke Fragrance Oil, we produce the concentrate by weight for integration into your own manufacturing process.

Throughout, our role is to translate your brand and constraints into a scent that is beautiful, technically sound and realistically producible – so that by the time you place a bulk order, you are working with a formula you know and trust.

Can you match or reinterpret an existing fragrance for my brand or product?

We can work very well with existing fragrances as a reference point – especially when you want to stay in a similar universe while adapting the scent to your brand, product or technical needs.

For Professional Creations, you can describe the fragrance you have in mind or, where possible, use our sampling kit to send a small product or scent sample. We then study its character, structure and performance, and create new compositions that capture a related mood or direction rather than a literal copy.

We do not offer one-to-one cloning of protected fragrances or direct replication of competitor products. Instead, we focus on reinterpretation: keeping what you love (for example a certain freshness, warmth or texture) while creating a new formula that is technically sound, IFRA-compliant and tailored to your base, price point and positioning.

In practice, this means we can help you move from “something like this” to “this is ours” – a recognisable space of scent that belongs to your brand and can be used confidently across your products.

What types of products can I use your fragrance oils in (cosmetics, candles, home care, etc.)?

Our Bespoke Fragrance Oils are designed to be versatile and can be used in a wide range of scented products, provided the formula is adapted to the correct IFRA category and is technically compatible with your base.

Typical applications include:

Cosmetics and personal care – skincare, body lotions, creams, washes, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners, beard care and similar products.
Fine fragrance and body – alcohol-based perfumes (Eau de toilet, body sprays) when formulated correctly by you or your manufacturer.
Home fragrance – candles, reed diffusers, room sprays, linen sprays and other ambient products.
Home and fabric care – detergents, softeners and selected cleaning products, depending on base and regulations.

When we develop a fragrance oil for you, we take into account the intended product type, typical dosage, IFRA category and any specific constraints you share (for example “suitable for a natural oil-based serum” or “stable in a surfactant-heavy base”). We provide IFRA documentation so your lab or manufacturer can confirm the maximum safe levels for each application.

If you are unsure whether a particular product idea is suitable, you can simply tell us your concept in plain language – we will help you understand what is realistic and how best to use the fragrance safely.

What documentation do you provide (IFRA, allergens, SDS/CLP, CoA)?

For professional creations, we provide the technical documentation you need to work safely and compliantly with our fragrances.

As standard, for each approved B2B fragrance we can provide:

IFRA certificate: indicating the IFRA category, maximum recommended usage levels and any specific restrictions.
Allergen information: a list of declarable fragrance allergens according to current EU requirements, to support your product labelling.
Safety Data Sheet (SDS): containing key safety, handling and storage information for the fragrance oil or fine fragrance concentrate.
CLP-related information: hazard statements, precautionary statements and classification details needed for CLP labelling where applicable (for example for candles, diffusers or certain home products).
Certificate of Analysis (CoA): batch-related quality information for the fragrance supplied.

These documents are intended to integrate smoothly into your own regulatory and safety workflows, whether you work with a contract manufacturer, an internal lab or a small artisanal setup. If your project has specific documentation needs, you can let us know at briefing stage so we can confirm what is possible.

What are your minimum order quantities and typical lead times for bulk orders?

For professional projects, we keep minimums as accessible as possible while still working to perfume-house standards.

As a guideline:

Bespoke Fine Fragrance (finished perfume): minimum from 55 × 50 ml bottles per production run.
Bespoke Fragrance Oil (concentrate by weight): minimum from 0.5 kg per fragrance oil.

Once your formula has been approved and you place a bulk order, typical production lead times for moderate quantities are around 20 days before shipping. This can vary depending on the size of the order, bottling requirements and the availability of certain raw materials.

Please note that this lead time refers to production after your fragrance has been created and signed off. The initial creative and sampling phase (briefing, development of your three variations, evaluation and adjustments) has its own timeline, which we will discuss with you at the start of the project.

For larger or more complex orders, we will agree a tailored schedule together, so you have clear visibility from first idea to delivered goods.

Who owns the formula for a professional (B2B) creation, and is it exclusive to my brand?

By default, the underlying perfume formula remains the intellectual property of SCENTIFIC. This allows us to store it safely, maintain quality over time and handle all regulatory work in a consistent, professional way.

For professional projects, we treat your approved fragrance as exclusive to your brand within the scope we agree together – typically defined by product type, market and positioning. In practice, this means we do not sell or license your exact formula to other brands as a ready-made scent, and we treat your project with the same discretion as a traditional fragrance house working for a client.

As with any serious perfume house, we reserve the right to use our general know-how, internal tools and individual building blocks (for example, common accords or raw materials) in future work, provided we do not replicate your full, recognisable composition for another client.

If you are interested in a different arrangement – for example, a specific licence structure or a transfer of rights for a particular project – this can be discussed on a case-by-case basis and documented in a separate agreement.

In short: the formula itself stays with SCENTIFIC, while the fragrance identity created for you is treated as your brand’s exclusive signature within the agreed context.

Can you work under NDA and offer white-label or discreet services?

Yes. Discretion is a core part of how we work with professional clients.

We are happy to work under a mutual non-disclosure agreement (NDA), especially for projects involving confidential product concepts, formulations, brand strategies or client lists. Under NDA, any information you share with us is treated as strictly confidential and used only for the purpose of your project.

We also routinely operate in a white-label capacity. This means that while we create and supply the fragrance, your brand remains at the forefront: we do not require visible credit on packaging, and we do not publicly disclose our involvement unless you explicitly wish to highlight the collaboration.

Internally, your project is handled with the same discretion as in a traditional fragrance house: formulas, briefs and technical documents are accessible only to the people directly involved in developing and producing your scent.

If you have specific confidentiality requirements, simply let us know at the start of the conversation – we will align our way of working to match the level of privacy your brand needs.

In simple terms, how does your technology support the creative process?

In simple terms, our technology helps us listen better, think faster and waste less – without replacing the work of human perfumers.

On the front end, Amber guides your conversation and turns your words – favourite perfumes, memories, moods, places – into a clear, structured brief. This means our perfumers receive something far more precise than a traditional questionnaire or short email, and can start from a place of real understanding.

Behind the scenes, our proprietary computer model of the sense of smell supports the perfumers as they work. It helps them see how different molecules are likely to behave together, where a formula might be unbalanced, and which directions are promising – so they can focus their time and attention on nuance, texture and emotion instead of trial-and-error.

The result is not a “machine-made” perfume, but a sharper human process: fewer blind tests, more intentional choices, and the ability to offer a level of bespoke work that would normally require a large fragrance house – all from a small studio in Berlin.

How do you protect my personal data, my formula, and my creative inputs?

We treat your data and your formulas with the same care we give to your perfume: deliberately, and with respect.

Personal data: We collect only the information we need to provide our services (for example, contact details, shipping information and your conversation with Amber). This data is processed in line with EU GDPR principles, stored on secure systems, and never sold to third parties. We do not share your identity or creative inputs with advertisers.

Creative inputs and briefs: What you tell Amber about your memories, inspirations and preferences is used to create and refine your fragrance. It is never published, and it is never used to manufacture someone else’s “story”.

Formulas: All formulas created in our studio – are stored in a secure, access-controlled environment. They are treated as confidential house IP and are only used for the purposes you expect: making your perfume, refining it with you, or producing approved B2B orders. We do not resell your exact bespoke formula to other clients.

For more detail, our privacy policy and terms set out the legal framework. In practice, our guiding principle is simple: what you share with us stays within the house, and is used to serve your project – not to build a public profile of you.

How does SCENTIFIC approach sustainability in ingredients, production, and packaging?

For us, sustainability is about precision and responsibility rather than slogans.

Ingredients: We use a considered balance of responsibly sourced naturals and high-quality aroma molecules. This allows us to reduce pressure on sensitive natural resources, avoid materials with problematic sourcing, and still create deep, complex perfumes. All formulas are developed within current IFRA and EU cosmetic safety standards.

Production: Every bespoke perfume is made to order. We do not hold large stocks of unsold fragrances, and we avoid producing more than is needed for each client or brand. Our internal tools help us minimise unnecessary trials, which means less waste of raw materials and solvents over time.

Packaging: Our packaging is deliberately minimal and recyclable where local facilities allow – focusing on sturdy protection and a clean aesthetic rather than layers of disposable decoration. We favour simple, durable components and are working towards future refill options once they can be implemented without compromising quality and design.

Sustainability is an ongoing process, not a finished claim. As we grow, we continue to refine our choices – always aiming for fragrances that feel luxurious on the skin, not heavy on the planet.
